Compression of discrete data based on the triangulate irregular network

Paper Abstract

This paper describes an approach to compress the discrete data by triangle irregular network. Before conducting the compress, the triangle network should be built for the data. Two kinds of methods that creating the 2D and 3D TIN are introduced before introduce the mathematical model of compression. Since the compression threshold can not be decided by computer program, an algorithm and its procedure are described to complete the process of compression. Two cases are studied to show the results of compressions using this model.
