Advanced laser micro welding by pulse control: new welding strategies with pulsed Nd:YAG lasers

Paper Abstract

The introduction of real time controlled power supply technique made it possible to considerably improve welding feasibility, welding seam quality, and the reproducibility of welding. Even welding jobs that are challenging because of the metallurgical properties of the materials have become possible thanks to the method of a defined control of the heat input and of the influence of melting pool dynamics. Furthermore new process tehniques like SHADOW and closed loop feedback power controlled spot welding open up new fields of application for pulsed Nd:YAG lasers.
