Adaptation of coherent Raman methods for the investigation of biological samples in vivo

Paper Abstract

The possibility to apply CARS spectroscopy to opaque and optically inhomogeneous Bamples have been investigated. Ca1culation for the intensities of forward and backward traveling signas show that under favourable conditions strong signals can be expected. All the many examples of the application of CARS for the investigation of biological molecules given at this conference show that CARS is a powerful tool for these purposes. But in nearly all investigations the samples are prepared into an optically homogeneous and transparent form. An important aim is but to investigate biological systems in vivo.
