Molecule without electrons: bonding bare nuclei with strong laser fields

Paper Abstract

We show that a carefully chosen combination of sufficiently intense linearly and circularly polarized laser fields can bond two same-sign charges, not only completely suppressing their Coulomb repulsion in all three spatial dimensions, but also turning it into an effective attracting potential.
