Interferometric spectrally encoded endoscopy – nanometric imaging of tissue vibrations in vivo (Conference Presentation)

Paper Abstract

Techniques for imaging tissue acoustic vibrations are potentially important for clinical diagnosis; however, measuring the vibrations in two dimensions requires precise knowledge of both amplitude and phase across the entire tissue surface. Interferometric spectrally encoded endoscopy is ideal for addressing this challenge, allowing phase-sensitive three-dimensional vibration imaging with nanometric axial resolution. By measuring the mechanical and dynamical properties of the tissue with high spatial resolution, the system has been demonstrated promising for various clinical applications, including diagnosing hearing disorders in patients suffering from conductive hearing loss.
