Paper Abstract

Emerging trends in airborne reconnaissance equipment are establishing the need for an on- board management capability to control the equipment. The increasing flexibility of sensor, storage, and communication subsystems drives the need for a data management function to select the optimum combination of subsystem modes needed to meet an overall system operational requirement. Common flexible interfaces both on-board and off-board work with the system configuration to provide in-flight adaptation of the system configuration to meet changing data requirements. Communications system capabilities to adapt to the jamming environments also drive the need for automatic data management.
