X-ray phototriggered electric discharge XeCl laser

Paper Abstract

An X-Ray preionized LC inversion discharge XeCl laser has been modified to work in the X- Ray phototriggered mode. X-rays are produced by a secondary emission electron gun. Homogeneous discharge are obtained at low electric field between 1.1 and 1.5 kV/ with good laser results: 1.2 J of laser energy at 2.6% efficiency and 1.5 J/liter specific energy. Moderate repetition rate is possible without arcing or missing shots.
