Paper Abstract

A comparative assessment of several `semiempirical' correction methods of the atmospheric effects, for high resolution remotely sensed image-data, in the visible and near-infrared regions is presented. These methods relying on simplified atmospheric models, use input data greatly determined by certain ground measurements and/or the information contained by the image. The methods were tested with Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer data. As compared to an `exact' correction method based on the 5S radiative transfer code, the `semiempirical' methods led to results the accuracy levels of which are closely equivalent.
