Panel Discussion on Emerging and Future Photovoltaic Technologies
Wednesday 28 August 2013
8:30 AM - 10:00 AM

Panel Moderator:
Sean E. Shaheen, Univ. of Colorado at Boulder (United States)

Panelists:
Gavin Conibeer, The Univ. of New South Wales (Australia)
David Ginley, National Renewable Energy Lab. (United States)
Martin Pfeiffer, Heliatek GmbH (Germany )
Adam Plesniak, Amonix Inc. (United States)
Scott Watkins, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (Australia)
Eitan Zeira, OneSun Solar (United States)

This panel discussion will feature representatives from leading companies and institutions in PV innovation. The discussion topics will focus on issues central to the future development of large-scale solar energy technology and will address questions such as: What are the cost requirements for emerging technologies, both in terms of module and balance-of-systems costs? What is a realistic time frame for a new technology to become viable? What is the significance of the global structure of PV manufacturing, and what actions should be taken in the future to promote global PV growth? What governmental policies would best foster success in the PV ecosystem? What pathways exist to truly large-scale, global PV implementation?
