BELLINGHAM, Washington -- Less than two years after its launch, the Journal of Photonics for Energy has been selected for inclusion in Web of Science and Scopus. The journal is published by SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, with Zakya Kafafi (United States National Science Foundation) serving as Editor-in-Chief.
The Journal of Photonics for Energy is published in the SPIE Digital Library and covers fundamental and applied research on the application of photonics for renewable energy harvesting, conversion, storage, monitoring, consumption, and efficient usage. Recent special sections have focused on organic photovoltaics and organic light-emitting devices.
In fall 2012 Thomson Reuters will index Volumes 1 and 2 of the Journal of Photonics for Energy for its Web of Science products:
- Citation Index Expanded, providing access to bibliographic and citation information
- Journal Citation Reports, an annual review of the world's leading journals that provides several statistics related to citations, including two-year and five-year impact factors, that define each journal's relative importance and impact on the global research community
- Current Contents Connect, listing tables of contents and bibliographic information
- Physical, Chemical, and Earth Sciences edition
- Engineering, Computing, and Technology edition.
Scopus is indexing Volume 2 of the Journal of Photonics for Energy, and will add Volume 1 along with future volumes.

"This exposure will increase visibility for the journal and for its contributors, as well as more broadly disseminate information on new photonics solutions to the world's energy challenges."
The Journal of Photonics for Energy is published in the SPIE Digital Library along with six other SPIE journals that are already included in Web of Science and Scopus, SPIE conference proceedings, and SPIE eBooks, to further its mission to provide high-quality publications for the entire field of optics and photonics. The SPIE Digital Library is the largest collection of literature in the field, with more than 370,000 conference papers and journal articles and 165 eBooks. Approximately 20,000 new articles and book chapters are added each year.
SPIE is the international society for optics and photonics, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1955 to advance light-based technologies.
