Papers in Proceedings of SPIE volumes are published as downloadable PDFs online in the SPIE Digital Library, and are indexed in INSPEC, Physics Abstracts, Ei Compendex, Chemical Abstracts, International Aerospace Abstracts, ISI's Index to Scientific and Technical Proceedings, and the NASA Astrophysical Data System.
Submit an Abstract
Abstracts are due 29 September 2008. Before you submit your abstract:
Plan your Travel and Prepare your Presentation
Official notifications will be sent the week of 1 December via email to the contact author of each accepted presentation. If your submission is accepted:
- If you need a travel visa, begin the visa application process immediately after you receive the acceptance notification.
- If you are a full-time student in need of partial travel support, you may apply for an SPIE Contingency Student Travel Grant (see eligibility requirements).
- Prepare your presentation. See Oral and Poster guidelines.
- Preregister for the conference to save $100: the pre-registration cutoff date will be included in the Advance Program, available in December 2008.
- Review the program, available in December 2008, to confirm your presentation date and time.
Prepare and Submit your Full-Length Manuscript
While simultaneously preparing your presentation and planning your trip to Orlando, you should be writing the full-length paper for publication in the Proceedings of SPIE. Links for preparing and submitting your full-length technical manuscript to SPIE are in the right column of this page. Full-length manuscripts are due as follows:
Onsite* Manuscript Due Date: 2 February 2009
Manuscript submission website for conferences with onsite proceedings opens 29 December 2008.
*Proceedings of Conferences DS101, DS108, DS212, DS215, DS217, and DS218 will be available onsite.
Manuscript Due Date: 16 March 2009
Manuscript submission website for all other conferences opens 2 February 2008.
The 16 March manuscript due date applies to all conferences except those with onsite proceedings.
