    In memoriam: Alexander Kazimirov, synchrotron researcher

    Alexander Kazimirov, senior research associate at the  Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source and longtime SPIE X-Ray/EUV Components conference  committee member and author, died on 12 August while hiking in the Adirondack Mountains. Dr. Kazimirov was 59.

    A resident of Dryden, N.Y., he was born 29 July 1952 in Glubokiy, Russia. He completed his Ph.D. in physics in Moscow and worked in Stuttgart and Chicago before coming to Cornell.

    Colleagues and friends were saddened by the death, remembering Kazimirov as a talented, persevering, and dedicated researcher with a love for learning who was devoted to his family.
