The SPIE Career Center website has again been chosen as one of the best 100 job boards and career portals by a leading employment-industry guide publisher.

The SPIE Career Center was among the "truly exceptional sites" named this month in the Top 100 of the 10,000 employment sites in the Weddle's 2011/12 Guide. The site was also listed in the Top 100 in the 2009/2010 guide.

The award comes as the SPIE Career Center notes a 57% increase in its job postings during the first half of this year over the same period in 2010.

The SPIE Career Center offers resume and job postings in optics and photonics as well as advice from technology leaders, industry experts, and recruiters.

In addition, the site lists associations and societies serving the field, sources for grants and fellowships, articles on job search basics, and links to other mentoring and job-finding resources.

SPIE currently works with more than 3,000 companies to help recruit top technical talent. Typically, job postings number around 70 and resumes around 700, and each year hundreds of companies participate in SPIE Job Fairs.

"The sites selected for The Top 100 in WEDDLE's 2011/12 Guide to Employment Sites on the Internet represent the elite of the online employment services industry," said Peter Weddle, CEO of Weddle's LLC. "They consistently provide high-caliber support and services to job seekers, employers, and recruiters alike. Whether you're looking for a new or better job or searching for great talent to hire, these are the places where you should begin on the web."

The site selection methodology included a comprehensive review of information submitted by the sites describing their features, services, and fees as well as information provided by job seekers, employers, and recruiters who have used the site. In addition, each site was visited to assess its user experience and level of maintenance.

SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, was founded in 1955 to advance light-based technologies. Serving more than 180,000 constituents from 168 countries, the Society advances emerging technologies through interdisciplinary information exchange, continuing education, publications, patent precedent and career and professional growth. SPIE annually organizes and sponsors approximately 25 major technical forums, exhibitions and education programs in North America, Europe, Asia and the South Pacific. SPIE provided over $2.3 million in support of education and outreach programs in 2010.
