Society Award Recipients from Japan
Tatsuo Harada received the Technology Achievement award in 1999. Tatsuo Izawa was one of the award recipients in 1981. This award is presented annually to recognize outstanding accomplishment in optical, electro-optical, or photonic engineering technology. The recipient(s) shall have contributed significantly to the advancement of these technologies with a specific demonstration of optical technology in a new system or application and its reduction to practice.

Toshimitsu Asakura received the Dennis Gabor award in 1998. This award is presented annually in recognition of outstanding inventive accomplishments in electro-optical systems, especially those which further the development of holographic imaging and metrology applications.

Jumpei Tsujiuchi received the President's Award in 1987. This award is given to an individual who, in the opinion of the President and the Board of Directors, has rendered a unique and meritorious service of outstanding benefit to the Society.
