Vic Leverett named to OBE for defence contributions

Victor Leverett, Business Development Director for Finmeccanica in the UK, is among the latest recipients of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). The Queen's New Years Honours List was released on 30 December. Leverett was included "for services to the Defence Industry."

Leverett presented a keynote address at SPIE Defense, Security, and Sensing (DSS) symposium in April 2010. Bjorn Andresen, co-chair of the annual Infrared Technology and Applications conference at DSS, sent congratulations to Leverett, whose talk was entitled "The critical role of MOVPE technology in delivering highest performance thermal imaging capability."

Leverett has over 40 years experience in defense, security and professional electronics sector. He has held director level positions in GEC, Marconi, BAE Systems and now with Finmeccanica. In addition to his role in Finmeccanica, he leads a joint UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Industry Research & Development Strategy Group which shapes UK R&D investment in core technologies. He is also chairman of Niteworks, a unique MoD/Industry partnership providing decision support, experimentation and evaluation in the area of network-enabled capability.
