Electronic Imaging Support for Conferences

In addition to organizing and sponsoring the Symposium, IS&T and SPIE will provide the following to each conference:

  • Support for two co-chairs in the form of complementary registration. The chair fee waivers include a copy of their Proceedings volume.
  • One complementary registration for each day the conference runs to be used specifically to support the attendance of invited speakers who lack other support to attend the Symposium. The intention of this benefit is to encourage conferences to invite speakers who because of their renown or the topic they are discussing will draw other attendees to the conference, thereby increasing overall attendance. These fee waivers do not include a Proceedings volume.
  • A dollar-for-dollar match up to $300 for additional support of conferences who acquire outside sponsorship. These funds are to be used to expand on or support the conference, such as committee planning breakfasts/lunches; guest speaker stipends; monetary awards for "outstanding" student papers; travel grants; food and beverage at "after hours" panel discussions; etc. Sponsorship must be coordinated through SPIE or IS&T to qualify for the matching funds.

Sponsor Recognition

Sponsors are listed in the printed and online versions of the technical program, and in the conference proceedings volume.

SPIE Student Travel Contingency Grant Program

SPIE understands that full-time students may need some financial assistance to present their papers at our technical conferences.

  • If you are aware of such a student please direct them to the SPIE Contingency Student Travel Grant page to determine if they are eligible for consideration.
  • Students who apply will request a letter from the conference chair that states their paper presentation is necessary for the success of the conference.
  • In addition to this letter, students complete other paperwork and submit proof of full-time student status.
  • Applications and supporting material are due 10 weeks prior to the meeting.
  • Please note that only limited funds are available to help a limited number of students.
