SPIE Photonics West

SPIE Photonics West -- the world's leading photonics, laser, and biomedical optics event with 3,600 new research papers, more than 1,100 exhibiting companies, and 64 courses and workshops -- will run 23-28 January 2010 at Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, USA. Around 18,000 international scientists, researchers, and industry leaders are expected to attend.SPIE Photonics West

The event includes four symposia:

BiOS -- Biomedical Optics
LASE -- Lasers and Applications
MOEMS-MEMS-Micro- and Nanofabrication
OPTO -- Integrated Optoelectronic Devices

Special events include a BiOS "Hot Topics" session Saturday, plenary sessions for LASE, MOEMS-MEMS, and OPTO, industry panels, and numerous networking events.

The 50th anniversary of the laser will be observed in a wide range of activities, including the festive "Cirque du Lasaire" welcome reception, an international Khet tournament in the exibition hall, an industry panel, and other SPIE Advancing the Laser tribute events, as well as an exhibit of vintage-through-modern laser equipment cosponsored by LaserFest.

SPIE Photonics West anticipates strong first year in San Francisco

SPIE Photonics West, the primary photonics technical symposium and exhibition in North America, is expecting a strong showing for its first year in San Francisco. The event will run 23-28 January at the Moscone Convention Center, and will include special events marking the 50th anniversary in 2010 of the invention of the laser.
