SPIE Photonics West ends successful week

Even the current economic turmoil couldn't stop Photonics West 2009 from a successful, high-energy week that exceeded expectations with a modest growth over last year.

Key research findings in optics and photonics; photos and summaries from many technical, plenary, panel, and award presentations; and other news appear in the SPIE Photonics West onsite news daily reports. A highlight of the week was the announcement of the first PRISM Awards by SPIE and Laurin Publications.

Advances in photonics research with applications touching nearly every aspect of life drew more than 17,000 scientists and industry leaders to SPIE Photonics West in the San Jose Convention Center 24-29 January. SPIE Photonics West includes two exhibitions and brings together world experts in biomedical optics, lasers, MOEMS/MEMS, and optoelectronics. It was the symposium's final year in San Jose. The next Photonics West will be held in San Francisco, 23-28 January 2010.
