Rongguang Liang received a Ph.D. in Optical Sciences from College of Optical Sciences, University of Arizona. In 2001, he joined Research & Development Laboratories, Eastman Kodak Company, where he developed imaging technologies for biomedical imaging, display, digital imaging, and printing. Currently he is a Senior principal research scientist with Research and Innovation Laboratories, Carestream Health Inc (former Health Group of Eastman Kodak Company). Dr. Liang chairs a conference on design and quality of biomedical technologies, and serves as a Topical Editor for Applied Optics.
Lecture Title(s)
Optical design for biomedical imaging Biomedical optics is a rapidly growing area of research and has passed the "tipping point" for technology transfer, with significant momentum toward commercialization. Optical engineering in biomedical imaging is one of the keys in the research and commercialization of new technologies, encompassing the selection of light sources, optical components and detectors, illumination and imaging system designs, and testing.
This lecture provides attendees with a basic working knowledge of optical design for biomedical imaging. It will cover the fundamentals of biomedical optics and optical engineering, various biomedical imaging techniques, illumination and optical system designs for biomedical applications.
