We encounter optics in most of our daily activities. Our task as active scientists and photonics professionals is to use our skills, imagination, and intuition to make sure that light can make a difference. This is particularly valid for the developing world, where opportunities are limited. Together we can be the "Masters of Light" for the benefit of our global environment, our industries - for all people!
