SPIE Educator Award

The Educator Award is given annually in recognition of outstanding contributions to optics education by an SPIE instructor or an educator in the field. Honorarium $2,000.

Virendra Mahajan, the Aerospace Corporation, Retired, and the College of Optical Sciences, University of Arizona, Ranch Palos Verdes, CA, USA is the 2015 Educator Award winner in recognition of his sharing of knowledge in the area of optical imaging, aberrations, and wavefront analysis through his voluntary teaching of students and professionals and the writing of five excellent books.
