Founder and Leader for 17 years of the Laboratory of Laser Technology at IMRE-Havana University in Cuba. At present, works in Center for Research in Applied Sciences and Advanced Technology (CICATA-IPN, Altamira) in Mexico as a Leader of Laser Laboratory. Expertise in laser-matter interaction, solid-state lasers and development of laser equipment for medical and industrial applications. Several research projects as development of laser skin perforator, laser deposition of thin films, laser equipment for surface cleaning. Present work is in new the application of laser cleaning for processing food products.
Lecture Title(s)
Laser Ablation as a New Method for Elimination of Thorns of Vegetables and Fruits Abstract: Pulse Laser Ablation (PLA) as a new method for thorn elimination is presented. The new technique can work thanks to the use of pulsed light which is absorbed in a selective way, specifically in the thorns. By using a laser photoacoustic or LIBS techniques it is possible to monitoring the process in real time, checking online the cleaning results.
Monitoring of Laser Skin Perforation with LIBS and Photoacoustic Abstract: The laser method permits to perforate the human skin in order to take a blood sample for analysis avoiding the contamination risk and diminishing the pain sensation in comparison with metal lancet. By using both photoacoustic and LIBS techniques it's possible to monitoring the process. The LIBS technique is emerging as a new promising method for fast and in-situ blood analysis.
