Biography
Mr. Hatheway is President of Alson E. Hatheway Inc., a Mechanical Engineering graduate of U. C. Berkeley, a Fellow of SPIE, a Fellow and Past President of the Optical Society of Southern California, Chair of SPIE's International Technical Group on Optomechanics (1992 - 2007) and teacher of "Optomechanical Analysis" and "Optomechanics and the Tolerancing of Instruments."

Optomechanics: Payback Time
It is little appreciated that Galileo Galilei (1564-1642), is also the father of structural mechanics. This lecture traces the development of optomechanics forward to the present time and provides a status report on current capabilities.
