This year SPIE Europe Photonics Europe featured a more focused student and early career professional program. Events on entrepreneurship and career development complemented a strong scientific conference. I traveled to Strasbourg to see where photonics in Europe is headed.
Thirteen volunteers representing SPIE were among more than 250 who participated on 5 March in the annual Congressional Visits Day (CVD) sponsored by the Science-Education-Technology (SET) Working Group. The message carried to Congress last week by [these] volunteers from SPIE and other science and technology societies was clear.
SPIE Student Services is proud to announce new additions to its student events line-up at Optics + Photonics. New for 2008 is a panel discussion on getting hired after graduation and a student chapter and exhibitor social. These events join 15 other student focused courses and events.
