Talk:100 years of LEDs

Fred Schubert is a pioneer in compound semiconductors and solid-state lighting with more than 25 years of experience in this field. He was elected a SPIE Fellow, and is also a fellow of the American Physical Society, the Optical Society of America, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Schubert also teaches the course "Light-Emitting Diodes" at the SPIE Photonics West symposium.

Presenter - Yun-Li Charles Li, Professor, National Taiwan University (Taipei, Taiwan)

Talk: GaN based light emitting diodes

Yun-Li Charles Li received his PhD degree at Renesselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2003. Li joined the Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering in NTU in 2006. His research interests focus on GaN material and device applications. In addition, Li is interested in developing the solid state lighting system with multi-LED chips, the "Smart Lighting System."

Presenter - Jong Kyu Kim, Professor, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY)

Talk: Low refractive index materials

Jong Kyu Kim is a research assistant professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He received his PhD from POSTECH, South Korea, in 2002. Kim has been active in the area of LED based solid-state lighting for over 10 years. He has authored or co-authored more than 130 research papers in international journals and conference proceedings.
