    About the event

The Rocky Mountain Region is growing into one of the leading areas in optics and photonics in the United States. Two states in the region, Arizona and Colorado now rank in the top 10 states for photonics companies in the nation. The Rocky Mountain Region now contains around 25% of all photonics companies in the United States.

The industry is quite diverse in the region, with applications in aerospace, medical instruments, astronomy, consumer electronics, and a rapidly growing emphasis on renewable energy. The technology holds unique business issues that POSSE hopes to conquer via invited speakers and lively panel discussions. This year the theme is “Thriving in the Global Economy,” and will cover logistical and strategic issues many companies are facing as they look beyond our borders for business and assistance.

The Rocky Mountain POSSE brings together the leaders of this vibrant, enabling industry, to discuss what has worked and will work in their companies as we go forward. This industry has a history of working together and sharing information, so the POSSE just helps create a forum for this history to continue. Some of their strategies and lessons learned will have universal appeal to the high tech business world. All business leaders are welcome to attend and join into the discussions.

For 2008, we expect 100-150 people to attend this event, mostly leaders or technical staff from within the industry. Colorado is inviting our counterparts in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Montana to join us, both as attendees and speakers, in creating a new regional event.
