Monica Grady plenary: Landing on a Comet

ESA's Rosetta mission was launched in 2004, arrived at comet 67P Churyumov-Gerasimenko in August 2014, and since then has been studying the comet and its dust outflows. The Philae lander was delivered to the comet in November 2014, and produced data for 70 hours before its batteries died. In this plenary session, Monica Grady of The Open University relates the dramatic story of the European Space Agency 's comet-chaser Rosetta mission.

Monica Grady is professor of Planetary and Space Sciences at the Open University, where she studies the origin and evolution of the solar system through measurement of meteorites. She is a science advisor to one of the instrument teams associated with the Philae lander.
