Rebecca Jones-Albertus: SunShot Initiative provides opportunities for solar growth
With a goal of $.06/kWh for solar by 2020, the DOE program funds a portfolio of research aimed at improving efficiency and reducing cost.
Rebecca Jones-Albertus is Program Manager for Photovoltaics Research and Development in the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Energy Technologies Office. She oversees $200 million in funding to reduce PV material and process costs, increase module efficiency and improve module reliability, toward and beyond the goals of the SunShot Initiative.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office focuses on achieving the goals of the SunShot Initiative, which seeks to make solar energy cost-competitive with other forms of electricity by the end of the decade.
Previously, Jones-Albertus was Characterization and Design Manager at Solar Junction, where she led work contributing to the development of the company's breakthrough dilute nitride solar cells. She has 34 technical publications and four patents.
