EAPAD Keynote Speaker

Biomimetics: Lessons from Nature

This talk will provide a broad overview of various objects and processes of interest found in nature and applications under development or available in the marketplace.

Bharat Bhushan
Nanoprobe Laboratory for Bio- & Nanotechnology and Biomimetics, Ohio State Univ. (United States)

Special Session: Tactile and Haptic Interfaces/Displays
(e.g., Braille displays)
Haptic and tactile interfaces/displays are increasingly becoming part of the tools that are used to interact with and/or thru computers (e.g. teleoperators and simulators, computer and video games, robotics). EAP has enormous potential for enabling effective and exciting tactile/haptic mechanisms and Braille Displays are already under development.

Top reasons to present at SPIE Smart Structures/NDE 2010*:
•Exposure to a global network of researchers
 •To obtain feedback and advice
•Disseminating research results to a wide audience
•Hear an overview of other work
 •Develop ideas for future research
•*Reasons listed are quotes from presenters from past meetings.

Course
A one-day course on Electroactive Polymer Actuators + Devices.

Exhibition
Be part of a exhibition one-on-one interaction with researchers and exhibitors. Product areas in 2009: mechanical testing, materials characterization,DMA, fracture mechanics, shape memory polymer, high-performance composite, sensors, reflexive systems, smart tooling, vibration isolation, actuation, flight motion simulators, polyPower DEAP film, 3D imaging, photomasks, 3D photoresist patterning, photoplotting, structural health monitoring, data acquisition, acceleromete, fiber optic components, attenuators, laser to fiber delivery systems

Plan to attend SPIE Smart Structures/NDE 2010 in San Diego,
- join the leaders in adpative structures and mechanisim research. Attend a conference where engineers and researchers share ideas and find technical solutions, funding sources, and personal connections that help ensure their success.
