Wei Gao, Journal of Applied Remote Sensing founding editor, is a senior research scientist and director of the USDA UV-B Monitoring and Research Program, Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory, Colorado State University. He received his PhD in applied meteorology from Purdue University.

Akhlesh Lakhtakia, Journal of Nanophotonics founding editor, is the Charles Godfrey Binder Professor of Engineering Science and Mechanics at The Pennsylvania State University. He received his PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Utah.

 Ronald G. Driggers, Optical Engineering Editor-in-Chief

Ronald G. Driggers, Optical Engineering editor-in-chief, is the superintendent of the Optical Sciences Division at the Naval Research Laboratory. He received his PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Memphis. He began his term as editor of OE in 2010.
