John M. Sabol is the Chief Scientist for GE Healthcare’s Global Research Organization. He is responsible for the scientific oversight of strategic research collaborations and programs. His research is primarily focused on the development and clinical validation of advanced applications for digital x-ray imaging including dual-energy and tomosynthesis. His other research interests include observer performance methodologies and assessment of novel medical technologies.
John holds a BSc in Physics and Philosophy, and MSc. and Ph.D. in Medical Physics from the University of Toronto.
Personally, John enjoys mentoring youth in STEM activities; he mentors FIRST robotics FLL teams and serves as the FIRST robotics for GEHC’s program of sponsorship of 25 teams across the U.S. He leads an annual Space Exploration Merit Badge Clinic for the Boy Scouts and an X-ray imaging workshop as part of the GE Girls national STEM summer program. When not mentoring others, or spending time with his three children, John pursues his true passion, fly-fishing.
