My research interests are multi-disciplinary in terms of its methodological approaches including optical spectroscopy and imaging, neuroscience, and molecular biology. My current research is primarily focused on investigating and understanding of anomalous extraordinary fluorescent proteins photo-physics, which may be exploited to enhance biosensor function as well as to enable quantum computing. In addition, I'm interested in developing a new optical imaging system using fluorescence lifetime imaging and FRET-based sensors so as to monitor the cAMP-PKA signaling pathway in awake behaving mice, which is a key synaptic modulator throughout the brain.
