Profile
Summary
Michel Mitov studied physics at the University of Nice–Sophia Antipolis (France), where he obtained his Ph.D thesis supervised by Dr. P. Sixou. As a postdoctoral fellow he joined the group of Prof. S. T. Lagerwall at Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden). He is Director of Research at CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research, France) and leader of Liquid Crystal Group at Centre d’Elaboration de Matériaux et d’Etudes Structurales (CEMES) in Toulouse. His current research interests are the optical and structural properties of cholesteric liquid crystalline materials and their use for the self-organization of nanoparticles. He is the author of monographs on liquid crystals ("Les Cristaux Liquides", Presses Universitaires de France, 2000) and soft matter ("Sensitive Matter—Foams, gels, liquid crystals and other miracles", Harvard University Press, 2012).
