I am currently working as a Research Postdoctoral Fellow at Baylor Scott & White Research Institute (BSWRI). The BSWRI is an affiliate of Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH). BSWH offering 5.3 million patient encounters annually, includes 48 hospitals, more than 1,000 patient care sites, more than 5,500 active physicians, over 44,000 employees. This is a multidisciplinary research study involving cardiac surgery, neuroscience, and biomedical engineering. The aim of this clinical study is intraoperative multimodal EEG+fNIRS imaging and identification of functional biomarkers during open-heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) that correlate with subsequent neurocognitive impairment.
I received my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from University of Houston. During my Ph.D. study I was working as a research assistant in Multimodal Brain Imaging Laboratory. I have a solid background in computational neuroscience, biomedical signal processing, with an emphasis on brain-computer interface, pattern recognition, machine learning, statistical analysis, and topographic/tomographic EEG (Electroencephalography) and fNIRS (functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy) image reconstruction. I have a master’s degree in Bioelectric and bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (electronics). The combination of my academic background and working experience in the industry as an electrical engineer as well as several years of research experience sculpted me as a proficient problem solver in the research environment.
