National Science Foundation (NSF)
workshop on
'US-Czech Frontiers in Photonics' - a co-located workshop
18 April 2013 - Cost is €25

Bringing together leading American, Czech and European academic minds in photonics research and development to explore the next frontiers.

Expert speakers will present the current state of the art in photonics, identify emerging areas and corresponding research needs, and establish new international collaborations. A poster session will be offered by a select international group of graduate students.

The workshop topics will include non-linear optics, EUV - soft x-rays, microstructured and specialty fibers, optical sensors, optical manipulators, metamaterials, and THz and Mid IR photonics.

NFS Student Workshop Travel Funding Competition:
NSF actively promotes the inclusion of graduate students in technical conferences and in the advancement of scientific research. To this effect the NSF is offering travel stipends to a select number of graduate students to participate in the NSF workshop and present their research in a poster session.

Eligibility Information:
The candidate must be actively enrolled as a graduate student in an accredited US academic institution at the time of submission. The grant awarded to each student will be used for travel, lodging, meals or other incidentals. Submissions are limited to one submission per advisor.

Full Submission Deadline:
The deadline for submission is Monday February 18th, at 5:00pm, applicant’s local time.
Please submit your application via e-mail, as a pdf file attachment, to:
