Qingming Luo: Biophotonics research at Wuhan's Britton Chance Center

Inspired by the innovative teaching style of its namesake, Wuhan's center for biomedical photonics is a key source of developing researchers in the field.

Qingming Luo is director of the Britton Chance Center for Biomedical Photonics at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China. He is also Executive Deputy Director of the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics.

His research interests include near-infrared spectroscopy, optical bioimaging, visible brainwide networks, and optical molecular imaging. He is a Fellow of SPIE, and received a 2011 Top 10 Science and Technology Progress Award for Chinese Universities, as well as numerous other national and provincial science awards in China.

Luo is the holder of 46 patents and has authored or co-authored 15 books and book chapters, and more than 150 refereed papers.
