Advancing the Laser video series

From its beginnings in 1979, CVI Melles Griot Laser Group has been a source for laser-based components and subsystems to the global marketplace, with nearly 3 million units sold. Located in Carlsbad, California, the Laser Group's product portfolio encompasses more than 36 discrete laser wavelengths, from the UV to the near IR, with technologies ranging from gas lasers to the semiconductor laser technology.

David Hargis is vice president of engineering at CVI Melles Griot. SPIE filmed this profile of the Laser Group during a visit to the Carlsbad facility in August 2010. In this video, Hargis traces the history of the Laser Group, its diversification and technological development.
