The High-Power Laser Ablation conference ended on 24 April 2008.
SPIE High-Power Laser Ablation 2008 was a gathering of 118 international folks (as far away as Russia, China, and South Africa; and quite a number from Europe) interested in existing and emerging high power lasers.
High-Power Laser Ablation is of great interest to the US military and US laser companies. Representatives from Newport, Coherent, Trumpf, and other smaller businesses came to listen and learn. This final sessions focused on a new laser in R&D: DPALS (diode-pumped alkali lasers).
Claude Phipps has chaired this every-other-year conference six times and he loves tradition and providing a social atmosphere.
Thanks to all those who helped make this event a great success. We look forward to seeing you, and welcome new participants, in 2010.
