Student and Early Career Events at SPIE

Optics + Photonics

  • Student Travel Grants – Each year student authors travel to present original research at SPIE conferences, but many more are unable to afford the high costs of travel. Help students establish themselves in the scientific community with your donation.

  • "Lunch with the Experts"Student Networking Lunch – over 200 students attend this casual networking event to meet representatives from your organization, SPIE conference and symposia chairs, Fellows, and industry representatives.

  • Student Chapter Leadership Workshop – SPIE Student Chapter Members converge at Optics & Photonics for professional development, leadership training, and to establish new relationships for future collaboration. Over 200 Student Chapter Members from more than 30 countries attend this two-day event. Learn more about the event.

  • Optics Outreach Games – The Optics Outreach Games is SPIE's fun and engaging optics demonstration night hosted by student chapters on Sunday of Optics + Photonics. Demonstrate your support for outreach and increased public understanding of science by sponsoring the event which is open to all attendees and the San Diego public. Learn more about the event.

Photonics West

  • Student Travel Grants – Each year student authors travel to present original research at SPIE conferences, but many more are unable to afford the high costs of travel. Help students establish themselves in the scientific community with your donation.

  • "Lunch with the Experts"Student Networking Lunch – over 150 students attend these casual networking events to meet representatives from your organization, SPIE conference and symposia chairs, Fellows, and industry representatives. There are two opportunities to sponsor a lunch at Photonics West.

  • Student Chapter Leadership Workshop – SPIE Student Chapter Members converge at Photonics West for professional development, leadership training, and to establish new relationships for future collaboration. Over 50 Student Chapter Members attend this popular event.

  • Student Social – A strongly attended, more relaxed networking event where students socialize with sponsors and peers while enjoying the atmosphere of a great-off site venue.
