Ethernet Electronics with Data Processing for Spectroscopic
The new Ethernet interface board with data preprocessing capabilities extends the tec5 series of operating electronics for detector arrays further Now the amount of data to be transferred to a host computer can be significantly reduced by performing dark current subtraction, averaging and non-linear correction within the interfacing hardware.

For further data reduction two spectral ranges (ranges of interest) can be selected, all other data are discarded. A data format of 32 bit (floating point) provides highly accurate light intensity in-formation, e.g. the information gain by averaging over a large number of files is covered. The time stamp feature of the Ethernet electronics adds the precise info on the time of recording. All processed data are available with minimal time delay of 1µs.

Following the modular concept of the tec5 design, this interface board matches seamlessly into the existing family of electronics. All analog-to-digital converter boards –and thus all kinds of sensor chips - can be handled, including the unique tec5 electronic multiplexer to operate multiple PDAs simultaneously. The electronics provides several additional I/O for external triggering, and for controlling of flashlamps or other periphery devices.

The operating electronics are supported by software drivers as well as function libraries under Windows XP, Vista, Win 7. A Programmer Interface (SDK) for own code writing in C, C++, Visual Basic, and Delphi as well as drivers for LabVIEW are available.

Fast and Reliable Fiber-Optic Switches for Industrial and Sc
Multi-channel acquisition of spectral data is of high importance when it comes to manufacturing of large panes of architectural glasses or of solar cells or for making thin films. To avoid using multiple spectrometers, which can be quite expensive for process applications, optical multiplexing of a variety of sample channels is of high interest.

The Leoni fiber-optic switches are highly reliable (reproducibility in the range of 01%), can act quite fast (up to 50 Hz) and have low losses (< 20%). The duty cycle is more than 108 switches. All these features are required for modern process control and large sample throughput applications.

The standard switch has a 1:4 arrangement, but other setups like 2:2 can be created as well. By cascading switches up to 16 output channels can be provided.

All kinds of quartz fibers – from single-mode types up to 600µm core diameter – can be inserted as well as various connector types are available.

The fiber-optic switches are available as ready-to-use units encased into a robust metal housing with included power supply or as OEM parts with external fiber pigtails. Customizations are standard.

The switches can be used in conjunction with the tec5 spectrometer systems and software tools are prepared to use these fiber-optic switches.
