inno-spec GmbH

Company Description

The company concentrates on the market of multichannel spectrometer technology and spectral imaging with the diversity of its products. The building blocks of this technology are coupled with the corresponding multichannel photo sensors and sensor electronics. These assemblies defined as spectrometer modules are implemented for applications from UV to NIR 190 to 2500 nm. We also offer a broad range of individual parts and components for realising proprietary measurement systems to OEM customers.

Spectral Imaging Revolutionizing the Measuring Market
Spectral Imaging Revolutionizing the High-Quality Industrial
Measuring Market

Spectral measuring methods that measure the chemical composition of materials and compounds quickly, precisely and efficiently are becoming ever more essential for process engineering and quality assurance. In introducing imaging spectroscopy, inno-spec GmbH has shown its capacity for innovation and expanded its portfolio of spectral measuring methods with a complete spectral imaging system for VIS and NIR. This novel system has been designed especially for the demanding requirements of OEMs and features transmission spectrographs with an input lens and a fixed camera with ongoing adjustment for the visual spectrum and the near infrared spectrum (from 1700nm or 2500nm). As a spectral line scan camera with an NIR refresh rate of up to 360 frames/sec, the system has a universal GigE interface and a software pack with integrated camera control and modules for colorimetry, chemometry, mathematics as well as further spectroscope modules. This new spectral imaging system for VIS and NIR can be used in a wide variety of sectors, including quality control, agricultural and food industry, recycling or process control and measuring technology. Examples of applications that could be realized include measuring layer thickness, determining the concentration of various substances in pharmaceutical products, quality assurance for meal, or even separating various materials such as vegetables and stones during harvest. “This technology is excellent for quantifying materials by classification, as is need in sorting and recycling, as well as for determining qualities, such as the concentrations in mixtures or determining the levels of certain agents in pharmaceutical products” said Oliver Grass, CEO of inno-spec GmbH. He also stated that this technology would revolutionize high quality industrial measuring.

100 Measuring Points with One Single Camera

Composite fiber spectroscopy has also established itself as another area of application. Using this technique, a multi-channel spectrometer with up to 100 channels can be created with a line scan camera by changing the lens on a fiber bundle. This makes use of all the advantages of a spectrometer without having to deal with the disadvantages of standard multi-channel systems. All measuring points and the reference point are measured truly parallel. The range for all systems is from 200 nm up to 2500 nm. “inno-spec’s strength lies precisely in providing ranges according to customer needs” said Grass.
A new addition for users, and particularly for those from other fields, is that the device can be connected via Ethernet and software is installed according to the plug’n’play principle as found with standard commercial hardware. This makes it possible to use the system immediately without the user having specific technical knowledge. The device works both as a stand-alone spectrometer in individual applications as well as an integrated step in a process.

This leads to reliable measuring results, particularly for materials with varying material compositions: spectral imaging makes it possible to visualize the chemical, color and geometrical characteristics of an object and to establish its exact chemical classification.
