| New Product Line: asphericon SPA™ Acylinder Jena, January 2009: This Summer asphericon will expand its range of Standard Precision Aspheres (asphericon SPA™) with aspherical cylinder lenses made from High-Index-Glass. The experience of manufacturing aspherical cylinders for OEM customers gave us the unique possibility to create an attractive selection of designs especially for laser applications. Those asphericon SPA™ Acylinders are avialable off-the-shelf with a usual lead time of 2-3 business days. asphericon SPA™ are manufactured by CNC grinding and polishing operations in order to achieve the asphericon quality combined with volume production savings. They are available in diameters of 6.0 to 50.0 mm and are offered with three different standard coatings. The production is based on advanced CNC-grinding and polishing machines combined with special developed operation methods. A proprietary 4-axis zonal polishing process can be deterministically adapted to surface form error up to 0.5 μm. Depending on material used surface qualities better than 5/ 1x0.063 and roughnesses Rq < 0.002 μm (RMS) can be achieved. Latest tactile and interferometric metrology guarantee sophisticated and reliable fabrication on highest level.
