Since 1982, the Submillimeter-Wave Technology Laboratory (STL) at the University of Massachusetts Lowell has developed solid-state and laser-based terahertz sources along with high-sensitivity incoherent and coherent receivers. Using these technologies, STL researchers have engineered unique Compact Radar Ranges to acquire the radar signature of scaled tactical vehicles. Producing high fidelity radar imagery cost effectively, STL has pioneered terahertz radar modeling.
