SCANLAB at Photonics West 2012
At Photonics West 2012 SCANLAB will present a wide range of galvanometer based scanning solutions for the photonics industry. Our exhibits will be clustered around “high end solutions”, “software and systems solutions”, and “standard solutions”.

One of the show highlights is the new intelliSCANse® 10 – the world´s first scan head with only 10 mm aperture and high-end, high-resolution digital encoder galvanometer scanners. Basis for this innovation is the dynAXISse® S which features an all new, patented encoder design with ultra low inertia and therefore uncompromised dynamic performance.

Other highlights are solutions for inline laser edge detection to detect edges of work pieces such as wafers and SCANalign, SCANLAB’s through the head machine vision which will help integrators to realize top notch laser machines in much shorter time than their competition. Also laserDESK® - SCANLAB´s laser processing software package - will be on demonstration.

intelliSCANde® 30 for large area laser processing
SCANLAB has introduced the digital-encoder-based intelliSCANde® 30 scan system for exceptional performance over a large 2D processing area. The intelliSCANde® 30 is a completely digital scan head featuring a digital encoder for position feedback, iDRIVE-based digital control electronics and a 20-bit, SL2-100 control interface. An ideal choice for large area processing, the intelliSCANde® 30 has been designed for applications requiring exceptional precision and the smallest spot size over a very large working field.
For CO2 applications requiring the highest dynamical performance unforeseen in large aperture scan heads, the intelliSCANde® 30 is available with lightweight beryllium mirrors. The intelliSCANde® 30 can be combined with the digital encoder based varioSCANde® 40i forming an ultra-precise and fast 3-axis system for processing large areas and 3D structures.
The intelliSCANde® also available in 14, 20 and 25 mm apertures is mechanically and electrically fully compatible to SCANLAB’s existing large scan head series, making it ideal for all high-precision materials processing applications.

SCANcube 8.5 – Compactly Dimensioned for Fiber Lasers
SCANLAB’s successful, ultra-compact SCANcube series now offers the SCANcube 8.5, a scan head featuring the company’s new dynAXIS T galvanometer scanners. Marking systems based on fiber lasers particularly benefit from this new 8.5 mm aperture.

Optimized for the superior beam quality of the fiber laser, the 8.5 mm aperture is the perfect size for easy alignment and good focusability using f-theta objectives commonly used for marking applications. Compared with the SCANcube 7 the SCANcube 8.5 allows a nearly 50% higher power density in the laser focus while matching the marking speed of the SCANcube 7, a perfect combination for applications requiring shortest marking times. This level of performance is only possible by fundamental motor-technology advances embodied in SCANLAB’s dynAXIS T galvanometer.

Moreover – as with all SCANcube scan heads – the SCANcube 8.5 is equipped with an extremely robust, sealed, exceptionally compact housing. At just 3.5 inches at the longest side and a volume of just about 0.5 liters, the SCANcube 8.5’s electrical and mechanical connections are compatible with those of the SCANcube 7.

Conceptualized for the fiber laser, the SCANcube 8.5 is available in many wavelengths and can be controlled with SCANLAB’s RTC PC interface boards or stand-alone boards.

SCANLAB announces first delivery of the intelliSCAN_de 14
SCANLAB has delivered the first production lot of digital-encoder-based intelliSCAN_de 14 scan systems for integration into manufacturing tools. The intelliSCAN_de 14 is a completely digital scan head featuring a digital encoder for position feedback, iDRIVE-based digital control electronics and a 20-bit, SL2-100 control interface. An ideal choice for high precision machining, the intelliSCAN_de 14 has been designed for applications requiring scan head speed and precision approaching high-end XY stages.
The exceptionally low drift of the intelliSCAN_de 14 enables tiling in highest precision applications, reducing the need of additional inspection or re-adjustment throughout the process. The intelliSCAN_de 14 has no “visible” dither and features perfect line straightness achieved with very high 20-bit position resolution. With a tracking error of only 130 µsec the intelliSCAN_de 14 rivals the fastest existing high-speed scan heads and allows highest processing speeds without burn-in effects.
The intelliSCAN_de 14 is mechanically and electrically fully compatible to SCANLAB’s existing hurrySCAN II 14 and intelliSCAN 14 scan head series and is available for a wide range of laser processing setups.

intellicube 10 - SCANcube meets intelliSCAN
SCANLAB unveils a new product success, the intellicube 10: the first of a new galvanometer based scan-head series, it advantageously combines the features of the successful SCANcube and intelliSCAN platforms.

The intellicube inherits the compact sealed-housing concept, ease of integration and very attractive price of the SCANcube. The intellicube 10 is electrically and mechanically compatible with the SCANcube 10.

As a direct beneficiary of SCANLAB's years of experience developing digitally controlled intelliSCAN scan systems, the intellicube offers the advantages of iDRIVE technology: high flexibility, superior dynamics, actual position and advanced status information, etc.

intellicube scan heads are available with vector- or jump- tuning. The intellicube 10's dynamic performance exceeds that of the SCANcube 10 by approx. 25%.

The intellicube 10 is ideal – even under budgetary constraints – for applications that demand superior dynamics, compact designs and extensive status information.
