PD-LD’s LabSource LS-2 Module Wins the 2011 SPIE Prism Award
Pennington, N.J. – Jan. 25, 2012 – PD-LD Inc. (“PD-LD or the “Company”), the
worldwide leader in Volume-Bragg Grating (VBG®) technology is delighted to announce
that its new LabSource LS-2 module has been declared the winner of the 2011 Prism
Award, for Photonics Innovation in the Scientific Lasers Category. The PRISM awards,
given annually at SPIE Photonics West, identify the most innovative and marketeable
new product launches of 2011 in 9 categories of photonics. The scientific laser category
focuses on laser-based products with diverse, interdisciplinary applications that can be
used across a wide range of industries.
“Receiving this award is testament to the fact that PD-LD’s LabSource is an outstanding
new product that is poised to make a difference in a wide array of laboratory settings,”
said PD-LD CEO Vladimir Ban.
The scientific laser category of the PRISM award focuses on new products that are the
result of collaborative development processes between scientists, engineers, designers,
and other technical and marketing personnel, “Combining input from customers,
designers, and our own engineering, marketing, and manufacturing teams, we were able
to come up with a product that features both technical superiority and ease of use,”
explained Uri Abrams, PD-LD’s President. “Furthermore, the dual-laser LabSource
module provides the first turnkey SERDS solution on the market.”
The company reports an outstanding level of interest to this new product at Photonics
West in San Francisco. “The work that PD-LD is doing underscores the innovation in our
industry” said Pamela Robertson of SPIE. “These products will shape the future of
photonics industry.” A live demonstration of the LabSource LS-2 module is available at
PD-LD’s booth (# 828 South Hall) at Photonics West in San Francisco. For those that
cannot make it to the show floor for a live demo, the company encourages scientists to
contact PD-LD’s applications group directly to schedule an on-site demo.
PD-LD is excited to build on the LabSource’s launch momentum. “The LabSource
represents a significant development in the evolution of PD-LD’s VBG-stabilized product
line, and we are confident that both the single and dual-source modules have widereaching
market potential,” PD-LD’s VP of Sales, Tom DeBerardine, added. “We are
excited to see that the greater photonics community is recognizing this product’s
potential as well.”
