OWIS High-Precision Linear Positioners LIMES
OWIS have again extended the product family of high-precision linear stages, this time by a smaller brother, the LIMES 44.
The LIMES stages have been designed for applications with high requirements concerning repeatability (up to < 2 µm) and positioning accuracy. They offer the option of adding a linear measuring system for position feedback with a resolution of 0.1 µm.
The top-quality mechanical components such as the backlash-free ball bearing guides ensure smooth and fast motion. The premium positioning quality and the high life time of the LIMES series is supported by the high-accuracy ball screw.
Different travels from 25 mm up to 1500 mm are available. The LIMES stages are suitable for applications with limited space as well as for high loads in stable multi-axis systems.
Setup compatibility within all the OWIS® LIMES and LTM product families is guaranteed. The versions with bellows / metal covering improve the protection of the complete drive against soiling.
Depending upon application, these stages are available at short notice both with step motor (open loop) and with DC servo motor with encoder (closed loop).
The high-quality, black anodized surface of the aluminium parts prevents reflection or stray light almost completely, which makes the stages ideal for applications in industrial photonics or for use in laboratories.

OWIS Elevator Stages NEW Designed
The new OWIS® elevator stages of the HTM and HUMES series provide precision positioning in small places.
The new series are technically designed for the high demands of the various application fields. The spindle driven guiding system allows further mountings in directions using horizontal travel range as well as upside down applications. The used miniature guides do still allow high loads. Travel ranges of 15 mm can be realized with high resolutions. Depending on the requirements of the application, a step motor or a DC servo motor with encoder version can be chosen. For protection of the mechanics, Hall-effect or mechanical limit switches are integrated.
In order to achieve high accuracy, the HUMES is equipped with components for high precision. A directly integrable measurement system returns accurate position feedback for highest resolution. Compared to the HUMES stages, the HTM series provides precision positioning in an optimized price-performance ratio, which is already suitable for most applications.
The top quality black anodized protective coating of the aluminum parts prevents reflections or stray light almost completely.

NEW LOW-DESIGN OWIS XY STAGES for EXTRA LARGE TRAVELS
The OWIS® XY stages of the PKTM series are characterized by a low assembly height.
The travel of 190 mm can be variably defined due to the continuously adjustable limit switches. For applications with transmitted light, a square aperture is intended. It can be closed by an insert plate with assembly bores, if no aperture is required.
The guides are lying at a wide distance from each other and allow a high moment of tilt in both X and Y direction. The XY stages of the PKTM series correspond to the precision class of the LTM positioners. They are a price-optimized alternative, if the high precision of the CROSS series is not required. The CROSS stages with their best quality, including the ball screw, are made for demanding applications concerning accuracy and high life time.
The ground fine-thread spindle and the ball bearing guides of the PKTM stages are securely placed inside the stage and enable exact and reliable positioning movements even under unfavourable ambient conditions.
The material combination between thread spindle and nut is low-wear. Thus, a high life time is reached in industrial continuous operation, as well.

OWIS SYS 25 - the Miniaturized Original Rail System
OWIS® have expanded their product range by introducing the system kit SYS 25, a beam handling system with an optical axis of 25 mm. This product group contains precisely manufactured rails, slides as well as optic holders and is going to be continuously extended. Not only basic optic mounts but also mirror mounts, transmission mounts and cubes – with corresponding inserts for any adjustment requirements - are part of the product program. They can retain optics from 3/8“ to 0.5“.
OWIS® is the first company on the market providing slides and setup mounts with a defined optical height for a micro system kit as separate components, thus offering the customer maximum flexibility.
With the SYS 25, OWIS® rise to the challenge of the growing miniaturization for complex laser applications. Thus, laser manufacturers and medical technicians can now use the precise optical components from OWIS® for very small setups, too.
The new system kit SYS 25 will be available with a lot of components such as the proven SYS 40.
The easy handling of the SYS 25 permits as usual fast assembling of beam paths.
The new SYS 25 components are of course available in non-magnetic as well as in vacuum-prepared versions.

OWIS MTM 60 - NEW Series LINEAR MEASURING STAGES
The motorized MTM 60 are designed for applications where precision and very compact mechanical dimensions are primarily demanded. Combinations of XY or XYZ mountings with very small space confinements are also possible, without an additional mounting bracket.
The use of special cross roller bearings and precision fine-thread spindles with 0.5 mm pitch allow a good positioning accuracy and repeatability of a few micrometers. Furthermore, these units are ideal in applications with high requirements concerning resolution and smooth linear motion.
The MTM 60 has two different versions as to the limit switches - mechanical or electronical. The version with Hall-effect limit switches allows a high reproducibility of the reference point.
Smooth and precise adjustment such as demanded in laboratory and research practice, production of measuring and test equipment, optical and medical industries are ensured with the MTM 60.

OWIS Non-Magnetic Products
OWIS® - the German manufacturer of high-precision beam handling systems and positioning systems for various photonics applications in industry and research - now offers most of its opto-mechanical components and manual stages in a non-magnetic version as standard.

Exclusively materials with a permeability of μr ≤ 1.01 are used. Thus, there are no timewasting corrections of the field like for example the magnetic field resonance. Light beams can be guided to an experiment or important components can be positioned to the right place without influencing the existing magnetic field.

Magnetic and non-magnetic versions have all the same dimensions. Therefore, magnetic versions can be replaced easily by non-magnetic ones without time-consuming modifications. All products available as non-magnetic version are marked in the OWIS® catalogue by a special symbol.

OWIS Intelligent Positioning Systems
OWIS GmbH - the German manufacturer of high-precision beam handling systems and positioning systems - has launched a new chip onto the market.

The new developed chip OWISid will be integrated in all OWIS® positioning stages. It ensures fast and easy initial operation of the OWIS® positioning system. This chip stores every information concerning the positioner such as type, spindle pitch, gear reduction, motor features. Thus, the positioning system can be set into operation and configured within short time.

The control software OWISoft together with the position control PS 10 enables the readout of the specific data of the positioning unit. The positioning system is immediately identified and mostly automatically configured. Setting errors can therefore be avoided and operating errors can nearly be excluded. The positioning unit is ready for use within shortest time.

Using this plug & play solution, complex setups can also be put into operation simply and safely. Required motion sequences can be directly executed by means of the comfortable control software OWISoft.

OWIS Compact Actuator with Non-Rotating Tip
OWIS® - the German manufacturer of high-precision beam handling systems and positioning systems - has launched a very compact actuator with non-rotating tip. This new actuator MMS 19 provides high-precise motion over a travel of 25 mm.

Depending on the application the MMS 19 can be driven by a 2-phase step motor or a DC servo motor and has integrated limit switches. Many manual components with micrometer can be motorized retrospectively.
The non-rotating tip reduces positioning and sinusoidal motion errors. Moreover, vibrations are not transferred to the unit to be positioned. With a sub-micron resolution and high actuating force, the MMS 19 offers high-precision positioning.

Through its very compact design and its flexible thread, this actuator is multilaterally compatible - with products made by other manufacturers, too.
