| Imagine Eyes®’ sales increase over 35% in 2010 San Francisco, CA & Orsay, France, September 23, 2011 – Imagine Eyes, the leader in adaptive-optics ophthalmic instrumentation, is pleased to announce that fiscal year 2010 was the best in the company’s history. With sales topping 1.2M€ ($US1.6M) and orders at nearly 1.3M€ ($US1.75M), the company’s sales grew over 35% in 2010.
Stronger than anticipated demand for the company’s rtx1™ cellular-resolution retinal camera played a key role in driving sales up. The company began taking orders for the device in October and will begin delivering the first units later this month. The rtx1, currently intended for research use only, stands out as the first commercially available compact instrument that enables clinical and industrial researchers to visualize the retina at the microscopic level. With wide-ranging applications in clinical and pharmaceutical research, the company expects sales of the product to continue to grow.
OEM sales of the company’s irx3™ aberrometer for third-party refractive surgery customers as well as continued demand for its adaptive optics components, notably the mirao™ 52-e Electromagnetic Deformable Mirror, equally played a major role in the company’s results.
“We’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished both financially and technologically” states Imagine Eyes’ CFO Samuel Bucourt. “Over the course of 2011, we will continue to actively market our products with the goal of making Imagine Eyes the standard of reference for cellular-level retinal imaging. We will also endeavor to strengthen our relationships with customers, both old and new, to further improve what we believe to be the most innovative instruments on the market for ophthalmic applications.”
Imagine Eyes will be presenting results from customers and clinical investigation partners during Photonics West in San Francisco from January 22 to 27, 2011. Visit the company on BiOS stand 8509 or, during the main Photonics West event, on the stand of its sister company Imagine Optic, 1431.
