General Research Institute for Nonferrous Metals (GRINM), established in Nov.1952, is the largest R&D institution in the field of nonferrous metals industry in China. GRINM was formally transformed into a large-scale high-tech enterprise by Jan. 26th, 2000 when it obtained the business license as a central enterprise. There are nearly 3,000 employees in GRINM, including 300 with Ph. D. or Master Degrees. GRINM has been in the leading position in the optical coating materials in China since the late 1970s. Over 30years, GRINM has introduced into China market more than 100 kinds of the coating materials, including oxides, fluorides, sulfides, metals, target, etc. The Center for Optical Coating Materials (COCM) has been established since 2001 in order to further strengthen the competitive position. The advanced quality management system ISO-9001 was enforced in COCM so as to ensure constant quality supervision and to meet the challenge of the market.
