Company Description
ISO 9001 approved and ITAR registered Gavish supplies sapphire optics that include windows, viewports, imaging arrays, optical lightpipes, lenses, and a range of skin cooling optics for cosmetic surgical lasers. Optics are produced to end user specifications for finish and flatness with full service support including AR filter and other specialty coatings and metallization. Final assembly of glued, soldered, and brazed multi-element assemblies are also available. Gavish is also a vertically integrated sapphire producer with facilities for crystal growth, fabrication, polishing and metrology. | US Sapphire Supplier Gavish Receives ITAR Registration
Bedford, NH… Gavish, Inc., a leading grower and supplier of sapphire located in New Hampshire, has successfully registered under ITAR. This move, coupled with the development of a comprehensive ITAR compliance system, allows Gavish to better serve its current US-based clients, as well as to expand its competitive reach into new companies and projects. Gavish currently supplies sapphire for many commercial, scientific and non-sensitive defense applications, but until now has been limited in its ability to work on ITAR restricted projects.
“This is of major significance for us,” says Jeremiah Fitzgibbon, National Sales and Marketing Manager for Gavish, Inc. “We are one of the few sapphire suppliers that can meet a customer’s complete range of needs, from raw material to fully finished products. The fact that we grow our own crystal sets us apart from most suppliers.”
“Many of our current and potential customers have expressed frustration that we were unable to supply them for ITAR controlled projects,” Fitzgibbon explains. “Now, with ITAR registration and the development of a compliance system, this barrier has been removed. It opens the door for us to provide high quality, affordable sapphire for nearly any commercial, scientific or defense sapphire application.”

The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) control the temporary import and temporary and permanent export of defense articles and services that appear on the United States Munitions List (USML). Manufacturers of defense articles and providers of defense services are required to register with the State Department’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
