EOLITE Releases New Fiber Lasers at Photonics West
Chicago, Decvember 31, 2009 (word count: 395)
The leading high power fiber laser company, EOLITE Systems, is releasing two new rod-type lasers during Photonics West 2010. From January 23 to 28 on the French Pavilion, booth 1723, EOLITE will present the OCTOPUS laser for thin-film scribing and the BOREAS IR150 for high-powered cutting and drilling.

OCTOPUS offers up to 16 fiber-delivery channels. Each beam provides light at 515 nm or at 1030 nm with pulse duration as low as 10 ns, peak power up to 4kW and repetition rates up to 300 kHz. Each fiber channel (up to 5 m long) offers up to 4W at 515 nm with excellent beam quality or up to 30W in a uniform multimode output configuration. OCTOPUS has been designed to offer a low-cost and easy-to-implement solution for scribing processes of thin film materials (in particular PV cells). OCTOPUS is based on EOLITE rod-type laser technology associated to a very innovative "demux" fiber architecture enabling independent multi-fiber delivery. Each channel can be independently power controlled. The channel fiber delivery will simplifymost of opto mechanical architectures with a very simple optical device to focus the individual beam on processed targets. With this laser, integrators can simplify their optical design using all advantages of fiber delivery together with the diffraction limited beam quality of free-space lasers.

BOREAS IR150 offers over 150W at 1030 nm, pulses shorter than 20 ns, peak power over 200 kW, high repetition rates up to 500 kHz, together with an excellent beam quality with Mē of 1.3. BOREAS lasers are based on a new generation of rod-type fibers designed to provide high energy pulses together with a very good beam quality. The single mode propagation in the fiber insures a polarized diffraction limited beam. A patented resonator design produces sub-10 ns pulses at repetition rates up to 400 kHz. This laser fulfills the needs of highly demanding industrial applications seeking for high peak power, high beam quality and very high repetition rate, in order to speed up throughput. Applications include: deep engraving, material cutting, material texturing, micro-holes or via drilling.

The BOREAS IR150 and OCTOPUS industrial laser heads are conductively cooled and temperature-stabilized by a closed-loop water-cooled plate that keeps the laser in a hermetically sealed environment and extends it lifetime. Fiber coupled diodes located in the 19-in. electronic rack can be easily serviced without adjusting the laser head.

EOLITE Presents New Power Laser at Photonics West Expo
Chicago, January 6, 2008 (word count: 358)

High-resolution images are available on request.

The leading high power fiber laser company, EOLITE Systems, is entering in a new era with the introduction of its third generation of BOREAS high power fiber laser. EOLITE Systems jumps to its next development phase by offering a fully industrial oriented laser design to a demanding industry. The company will present the BOREAS at Photonics West 2009 in San Jose, Calif., from Jan. 27 to 29, on the French Pavilion at booth 1617.

EOLITE Systems team is proud to present the new BOREAS family with BOREAS HE and BOREAS HF, featuring hermetically sealed rock solid single-piece aluminum block, which strengthens key advantages of "rod-type" fiber technology: short pulse duration, very high repetition rates, beam quality, beam pointing stability, power stability.

BOREAS lasers includes the high energy family HE and high frequency family HF. BOREAS HE is available in two different models: HE40 (1030 nm, 40W, 7 ns pulse duration, 2 mJ pulse energy) and HE80 (1030 nm, 80W, 7 ns, 2 mJ pulse energy) designed for high-peak power micromachining applications: deep-engraving, high-speed marking, precision drilling, and more.

BOREAS HF is available in five different models depending on wavelength (1030 nm, 515 nm or 343 nm) and average power (from 7W at 343 nm to 50W at 515 nm). The new solid block design offers unequaled performances at 515 nm or 343 nm with the possibility to produce pulses at repetition rates up to 500 kHz. Applications include semiconductor, micro-electronics, glass-marking, thin film processing, and both silicon and thin-film photovoltaic industries.

The unique properties of rod-type fibers provide shorter pulses and higher average power than classical DPSS lasers even at very high repetition rates.

Single-mode propagation in the fiber ensures a polarized, diffraction limited beam. A patented resonator design produces sub-10 nanosecond pulses and pulse repetition frequencies up to 500 kHz. The laser head is conductively cooled and temperature stabilized by a closed loop chiller allowing a real sealed environment for long lifetime operation. Fiber coupled diodes located in the 19-in. electronic rack can be easily serviced with no adjustment of the laser head. The system comes with an RS-232 interface for easy integration in high-volume manufacturing environments.
